I grew up moving back and forth between Canada and Egypt, and became interested in health, fitness, and spirituality from a very young age. However, it wasn’t until I moved to Toronto to attend University, and tried my first yoga class at a local community center, that it all started to gel.
From there, a series of important life events led me to Los Angeles, through a couple of career transitions, and finally to my YogaWorks 200-hour teacher training at Center for Yoga in Larchmont, which I completed in 2008. Reading the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali was a revelation! Realizing that the physical art form that I loved so much had a deep underlying philosophy that resonated so strongly with me made stepping more fully onto the yoga path an incredibly natural transition.
Since then, I have completed numerous smaller training sessions, workshops, and more significantly the Yoga Therapy Rx Level 1 program at Loyola Marymount University. I am also trained in Thai Yoga massage, with Saul David Raye’s Ritam Healing Arts, as well as the highly esteemed Shivagokomarpaj Thai Massage School of Chiang Mai, Thailand. I currently live in Los Angeles where I teach classes at my favorite yoga studios, Liberation Yoga and InYoga Center; work privately with clients at my home teaching yoga and doing Thai yoga massage; host group meditation sessions; study The Thinking Body-The Feeling Mind movement therapy technique with Dr. Linda Lack; and strive to approach each day with gratitude, loving kindness, and mindfulness.
